Abide With Me is a transcription of an improvisation recorded at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden in November 2007. The recording was released on Time Of My Life (Pink Pamphlet, PPR10) in October 2011.
In transcribing this improvisation, I decided to focus on the parameters that seemed most important, i.e. the notes themselves, the timing of each new event, dynamics and pedal changes. For me, it is impossible to conceive of this piece without the original recording. In my ears, the recording is the absolute account: this score represents a departure from it, a shadow of it. But it is with great joy that I’m now letting the cat out of the cage. I hope that you will find your own way to interpret this material and breathe new life into it.
